The Groupe Lépine sterile reamers have been completing the Quattro™ sterile instrumentation for 2 years !

As an undeniable Groupe Lépine innovation, they have 3 defined goals:

- To limit the amount of used reamers by providing new sharpened tools for each surgery

- To avoid cross-contamination risks as well as difficulties due to the reamers’ lengthy cleaning and decontamination

- To insure an optimal traceability

A study* has highlighted the difficulties resulting from progressive reaming. It was more precisely shown that the size of the prosthetic cup was important in the reconstruction of the articulation’s biomechanics and in particular, the center of rotation. The choice of reaming technique is then prominent as the preparation of the acetabulum determines the cup’s size and its fitting. This analysis reports that progressive reaming can cause a massive destruction of the acetabular cavity’s floor depth and in consequence, a cup size not adapted.

These are the following precautions to optimize the total hip arthroplasty :

- Referring to the acetabulum’s diameter when selecting the size of the cup

- Choosing the adapted reaming technique : one that doesn’t damage the bone, that enables an optimal preparation of the implant’s size and shape

- Selecting the right and coherent implant with the acetabular cavity’s prepared shape and diameter

The Quattro™ trial kits were conceived to resolve these different issues.
